Maverick?

How does John McCain claim the title of “Maverick”?  Because once in ten billion years he bucked his party’s wishes?  Give me a break!

A REAL maverick is Democratically minded, Democracy First (above all else), open to negotiations, looking out for the other guy, has a “all for one and one for all” mindset, has the “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” heart and soul, is the first, and if need be, the only one to step out and be counted, is a true part of “we the people,” and all that it means.

  1. Don’t be fooled by the conservative vs. liberal game or the Republican vs. Democrat game. The media has convinced Americans that the status quo must not be upset.

No significant idea (such as socialized medicine on the left or the flat tax on the right) gets genuine consideration. The powers-that-be don’t want these ideas considered.

When the Republicans controlled both the White House and Congress, I don’t recall a mention of ANWR. It’s a fake issue. There are similar issues for the Democrats.

Reaching across the aisle isn’t good enough. We are going to have to reach around our government if we are going to save our nation.

  2. I have struggled mightily to keep the tone of my rhetoric down below a dull roar that is until I learned about George Bush having suspended posse comatatis and deployed FEDERAL troops into the streets AND threatened members of Congress with martial law if they did not vote for the recently passed ‘bail out’ plan. I doubt very much if this story gets so much as a casual mention on Fox (so much for ‘Fair and Balanced) and maybe no even on CNN. You may have to tune into to Free Speech TV’s Amy Goodman to hear the TRUTH. Check it out for yourselves. Ask questions and then question the answers.

  3. What has the dems candidate done to be ready to reform… voted 94 times against tax cuts. your candidate has also made several false statemants on McCain…such as saying mccain voted the same as obama on a military spending bill, which was a lie. So, i guess “your” maverick also supports killing babies and two guys having sex and kissing out in public and being considered a marriage.

  4. The ‘94 times’ Barach voted AGAINST tax cuts was because those cuts DIRECTLY those who need such cuts the VERY LEAST. On the other hand, McCain (kinda sounds Biblical don’t it? Makes me wonder, who’s brother’s keeper is he?) voted for the recension of the VERY REGULATIONS that have LED DIRECTLY to the current economic mess. Back when there was sanity in this country, when the Democrats ran the White House, both Houses of Congress AND the Supreme Court, regulations were put into place to PREVENT such a financial disaster. Unlike the Republicans, Democrats REMEMBER the Wall Street COLLAPSE of the 1930s. It was a DEMOCRAT who got us out of ‘The Great Depression. Another Democrat, together with ANOTHER Democratic Congress, WILL do it again. With McCain, all we will get is more of the same. Supply-side economics, as a theory, was just fine. Put into practise, it has proven to be a calamity, a catastrophe, an absolute disaster. Personally, if such a position was to be had via election, I would not vote for McCain to clean the toilets in the Congressional restrooms. As you can see, I do NOT have a very high opinion of the man. As an aside, if he truly believed that ‘Charlie’ was going to release him from prison just so he could go home for his mother then he is so far beyond naive so as to push the limits of STUPID!! And by the way, at time did I refer to Obama as a Maverick. He is merely one who sees pain and is trying to heal it, one who hears tears and is seeking to soothe them, who sees wrongs and wants very much to set them right again. The GOP is very good at camoflague. Look under ALL the rocks and you may find yourself no longer wishing to be a Republican.

    McCain’s attacks fuel dangerous hatred
    By Frank Schaeffer

John McCain: If your campaign does not stop equating Sen. Barack Obama with terrorism, questioning his patriotism and portraying Mr. Obama as “not one of us,” I accuse you of deliberately feeding the most unhinged elements of our society the red meat of hate, and therefore of potentially instigating violence.

At a Sarah Palin rally, someone called out, “Kill him!” At one of your rallies, someone called out, “Terrorist!” Neither was answered or denounced by you or your running mate, as the crowd laughed and cheered. At your campaign event Wednesday in Bethlehem, Pa., the crowd was seething with hatred for the Democratic nominee – an attitude encouraged in speeches there by you, your running mate, your wife and the local Republican chairman.

    Shame!

John McCain: In 2000, as a lifelong Republican, I worked to get you elected instead of George W. Bush. In return, you wrote an endorsement of one of my books about military service. You seemed to be a man who put principle ahead of mere political gain.

You have changed. You have a choice: Go down in history as a decent senator and an honorable military man with many successes, or go down in history as the latest abettor of right-wing extremist hate.

John McCain, you are no fool, and you understand the depths of hatred that surround the issue of race in this country. You also know that, post-9/11, to call someone a friend of a terrorist is a very serious matter. You also know we are a bitterly divided country on many other issues. You know that, sadly, in America, violence is always just a moment away. You know that there are plenty of crazy people out there.

Stop! Think! Your rallies are beginning to look, sound, feel and smell like lynch mobs.

John McCain, you’re walking a perilous line. If you do not stand up for all that is good in America and declare that Senator Obama is a patriot, fit for office, and denounce your hate-filled supporters when they scream out “Terrorist” or “Kill him,” history will hold you responsible for all that follows.

John McCain and Sarah Palin, you are playing with fire, and you know it. You are unleashing the monster of American hatred and prejudice, to the peril of all of us. You are doing this in wartime. You are doing this as our economy collapses. You are doing this in a country with a history of assassinations.

Change the atmosphere of your campaign. Talk about the issues at hand. Make your case. But stop stirring up the lunatic fringe of haters, or risk suffering the judgment of history and the loathing of the American people – forever.

    We will hold you responsible.

  6. on the issue of the economic mess….it was obama along with the dems such as barney frank who said(2 years ago) that the economy was excellent. The democratic party lies, cheats and is going to loose the election.

*Undoubtly you have some issues to work out with how you discuss politics. You make yourself sound like an idiot and at the same time a loser! So why dont “you” rethink you strategy, your not getting anybody.

  7. Like all too many other Republican rabble rousers, you are seemingly trying to equate Biblical teachings with CONSTITUTIONAL principles. Remember, “ALL men are created equal and are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights that among these being life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”? This from the Declaration of Independence but are deeply rooted in the CONSTITUTION and the Bill of Rights. The Bible and the Constitution are two SEPARATE documents. Even Christ was against mudding the waters between church and state. Remember “Render unto Caesar the THINGS that are Caesar’s and unto God the THINGS that are God’s”? He said this in response to a question regarding the paying of taxes this is true but the principle regarding the separation of church and state still screams from the pages of the New Testament. I believe that amarriage, any marriage, should be first and foremost predicated and rooted on love. If Bill loves John or if Sally loves Suzie then why should they NOT be joined in matrimony? Nothing in the Constitution prevents this. I do not believeI was absent from Civics when such a thing was discussed. Were you?
